Youth dies after lift cable falls on him

In an incident, a youth died after a lift cable fell on him in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district.
The accident took place at Jagadamba electricals building on Subhash Road. The deceased has been identified as Gopal Singh (25). The young man was travelling in a lift loaded with heavy objects. During this time, the lift cable suddenly broke off. The youth died on the spot. The deceased is also a relative of the owner of Jagadamba electricals building. The police have taken the owner into custody in connection with the case and are interrogating him. A case has been registered at Kumta police station.
