75m Flagpole to be inaugurated at on Sep 18

Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur announced that a 75-meter flagpole will be inaugurated at Kadri Park on September 18. On the same day, at 10 a.m., the foundation stone for another 75-meter flagpole will be laid at Tagore Park. The Kadri Park flagpole will be officially inaugurated at 11 a.m.

In addition, a 23-kilometer human chain will be formed under the jurisdiction of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on September 15 to celebrate International Day of Democracy. The human chain is expected to involve over 10,000 participants and will stretch from Pavanje to Arkula along NHs 66 and 75, passing through Surathkal, Kottara Chowki, KPT junction, Nanthoor junction, Padil, and Arukula. Arches decorated with the tricolor will be erected at Pavanje and Arkula, and the national flag will be displayed every 100 meters along the route. The MCC will also decorate the KPT, Nanthoor, and Padil junctions, as well as the zonal office at Surathkal.

Participants in the human chain are encouraged to upload their photographs to https://democracydaykarnataka.in/ to receive a participation certificate online. They can also register for the event on the same website.

Mayor Shetty also mentioned that a sapling will be planted symbolically at the circuit house to mark the start of a project where 1,000 saplings will be planted from Thota Bengre to Tannirbavi in the coming days.
