The protest by ITI employees against the alleged illegal dismissal of 80 workers by ITI Limited Management has reached the 1001st day as of Tuesday, August 27. The workers, terminated on December 1, 2021, reportedly for organizing and demanding their rights, have maintained a continuous sit-in near the ITI factory in K.R. Puram.

This protest is now one of the longest-running workers’ struggles in Karnataka. Despite a settlement reached on March 17, 2022, where the management agreed to reinstate 35 workers immediately and rehire the remaining 45 later, the ITI Board has not honored the agreement. Consequently, the workers continue their fight for reinstatement.

AICCT Secretary Appanna, a participant in the protest since its beginning, criticized ITI for neglecting workers’ rights and stated that the protest would continue until justice is achieved. Dasamsa President Muninanjappa emphasized that the protest has motivated workers across the state to challenge anti-labor policies. Nirmala, President of the BBMP Civil Servants Association, also joined the protest, showing support for the workers’ cause.
