Renowned actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya will boost the Indian Racing Festival (IRF) by leading the Hyderabad Blackbirds as the team owner for the 2024 season of the Indian Racing League (IRL).

Chaitanya, a passionate motorsport fan and collector of supercars and motorcycles, is excited to bring his enthusiasm to the racing world. My love for motorsports from Formula 1 to supercars and motorcycles has been a lifelong passion. The Indian Racing Festival is an ideal platform for me to express this passion. Leading the Hyderabad Blackbirds in what promises to be an exciting season is something I eagerly anticipate. I hope to offer fans an unforgettable experience, elevate Indian motorsports, and inspire future racing stars, Chaitanya said in an IRF press release.

The Hyderabad Blackbirds are one of six teams competing in the Indian Racing League, the world’s first gender-neutral franchise-based racing series featuring top drivers from India and beyond. Chaitanya joins celebrities like Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, and cricket legend Sourav Ganguly in enhancing the league’s appeal. Akhilesh Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Racing Promotions Private Limited (RPPL), noted that Chaitanya’s involvement will make this season particularly dynamic. The 2024 season kicks off on August 24 at the Madras International Circuit and includes India’s first night street race in Chennai. The Hyderabad Blackbirds will compete against teams from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, and Kolkata.
