Indian shooter and double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker took part in the festivities at the launch of Velammal’s Vision for Olympic Medal 2032 in Chennai, where she delighted the audience with her dance moves.

At the Paris Olympics, Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian to win two medals in a single Games. She and her partner, Sarabjot Singh, earned bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, defeating South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 in the play-off. Bhaker also secured bronze in the women’s individual 10m Air Pistol event, making her the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal.

Despite narrowly missing out on a historic treble with a fourth-place finish in the women’s 25m pistol event, Bhaker’s achievements were groundbreaking. She is the first Indian athlete since independence to win two medals in one Olympic Games.

In addition to Bhaker, other Indian athletes made significant strides at the Paris Olympics: Neeraj Chopra won silver in men’s javelin throw, the men’s hockey team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, secured back-to-back bronze medals, and Aman Sehrawat clinched bronze in wrestling. India concluded the Games with six medals: five bronzes and one silver.
