Day 1 of the 2nd Hockey India Junior Women and Men South Zone Championship 2024 took place in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. In the women’s matches, Hockey Karnataka, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, and Hockey Andhra Pradesh secured victories. Hockey Karnataka defeated Telangana Hockey 6-0, with Disha M scoring twice and Rakshita J also netting twice, supported by goals from Thanisha R and Meher Kaur Mehta.

The Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu triumphed over Kerala Hockey 11-0, with Anusuya and Roobini M each scoring hat-tricks. Hockey Andhra Pradesh dominated Le Puducherry Hockey 23-0, led by Lalita Kothari’s seven goals.

In the men’s competition, the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu defeated Telangana Hockey 5-2, coming back from an early deficit. Hockey Karnataka won 10-0 against Le Puducherry Hockey, with multiple players scoring braces. Hockey Kerala and Hockey Andhra Pradesh played out a thrilling 4-4 draw, showcasing a competitive match with goals from various players on both teams.

The day’s matches highlighted strong performances and competitive spirit among the junior teams from South India, setting the stage for an exciting championship ahead.
