After narrowly falling 2-1 to hosts Myanmar, the Indian senior national women’s team is gearing up for another challenge against their higher-ranked neighbors in the second friendly match at Yangon’s Thuwunna Stadium on Friday. The match kicks off at 15:00 IST and will be streamed live on the Pyone Play YouTube Channel.
Head coach Chaoba Devi, despite her team’s spirited effort in the previous match, emphasized the need to minimize errors and take collective responsibility in Friday’s clash. To win tomorrow’s match, we must focus on reducing mistakes and taking responsibility as a team, she emphasized.
In the first match, Myanmar took the lead early with a header from Win Theingi Tun in the 14th minute, countered by Pyari Xaxa’s equalizer for India in the 58th minute. However, Myanmar secured victory with San Thaw Thaw’s free-kick goal in the 74th minute.
Coach Devi highlighted Myanmar’s strengths in precise touches and penetrating passes, emphasizing the need for India to counter these effectively. They are technically strong, and we need to block their runs and passes, she commented. Improving our finishing is crucial; despite creating chances, we struggled to convert them.
Pyari, who scored India’s goal, expressed optimism about rectifying mistakes and uniting as a team for the upcoming match. We need to play together and support each other to secure a win, she affirmed.
