Control Of Dengue Cases Should Be Effective: MLA Channabasappa

In an emergency meeting chaired by MLA SN Channabasappa on Wednesday, authorities were instructed to address the increasing cases of dengue in Shimoga city seriously and implement effective control measures. District Health Officer Dr Nataraj reported that 471 people in Shimoga city were tested for dengue, with 54 cases testing positive. The officials are conducting larval surveys across all wards and observing Dry Day every Friday. Precautionary measures include surveys conducted by Asha workers, locals, and medical students, utilizing resources from various departments.
To control mosquito populations in areas with guppyfish and confirmed dengue cases, fumigation efforts are ongoing, stressing the importance of public cooperation in disease control. Medicated smoke is being sprayed in all 35 wards of the city to curb mosquito breeding, with an emphasis on swift completion of this task. The Metropolitan Corporation Commissioner was urged to prioritize these efforts.
MLA Channabasappa emphasized the necessity of proactive health spending and inter-departmental cooperation to effectively manage the disease and prevent fatalities and suffering. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr Kavita Yogappanavar, District Surgeon Dr Siddhana Gowda Patil, District Communicable Disease Control Officer Dr Gudappa Kasabi, Taluk Health Officer Dr Chandrasekhar, and officials from the Health Department and Municipal Corporation attended the meeting.
