Opposition leader R Ashoka has claimed that an emergency situation has been created in Karnataka and that the police have been misused. He criticized the government for accusing Dr. K Sudhakar of a COVID-19 scam, despite Dr. Sudhakar’s work during the pandemic while Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar remained inactive. Ashoka alleged that the government’s actions against the governor are acts of revenge aimed at stripping him of his authority over the university. He warned that Congress will face repercussions for its actions.

Ashoka also questioned the arrest of MLA Munirathnam, who had previously been in Congress before joining the BJP. He noted that Congress leaders had supported Munirathnam while he was a member of their party. He criticized the police for not arresting Munirathnam during a 16-hour street protest by the family of a Police Sub Inspector in Raichur, and for not acting against him when an agriculture officer sent a video of his alleged misconduct.

Ashoka pointed out that Siddaramaiah faced 65 cases when he was Chief Minister, but these are now being ignored. He also compared current criticisms of the NDA government’s plan to hold simultaneous elections to past practices under Jawaharlal Nehru. Ashoka argued that holding elections together would save money for development and criticized Congress leaders for opposing this system out of fear of losing elections.
