DK Shivakumar stated on Wednesday that he might be compelled to contest from Channapatna in the upcoming by-polls if requested by the party and the people. Speaking to media at his Sadashivanagar residence before heading to Channapatna, he expressed his deep connection to the constituency, which was once part of the Sathanur assembly segment he represented. Shivakumar acknowledged the support he received from Channapatna in challenging times, emphasizing his commitment to repay their trust.
He highlighted the potential for developing Channapatna similar to his efforts in Kanakapura. Currently engaging with local leaders and residents and visiting local temples, he plans to decide on contesting later. Regarding his brother DK Suresh’s potential candidacy from Channapatna, Shivakumar indicated that no decision had been finalized. On another issue, Shivakumar addressed the long-standing issue of water tariff revision, emphasizing the necessity to review the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s financial challenges and consider tariff adjustments accordingly.
