Rough Sea Poses Threat For Residents

Must read

Mangaluru

Following the recent heavy rainfall in the district, residents living along the coast in Ullal and surrounding areas have been advised to exercise caution regarding sea erosion.
The rough seas pose a significant risk to numerous coastal homes, prompting officials from the Ullal City Municipal Council (CMC), Someshwar Town Municipal Council (TMC) and Kotekar town panchayat to implement safety measures for families residing in these areas.

The absence of permanent solutions has resulted in the coastal stretch from Talapady to Ullal experiencing natural disasters caused by sea erosion for many years. The authorities are working to address the situation and protect the affected communities from further damage.
Speaker UT Khader, who represents the Mangaluru constituency, said that families affected will be relocated to safer places.
He also promised to arrange an alternative site for families if they want to shift from the coast permanently. He told reporters that since there is no government land available in Ullal CMC limits, families will be given alternative land in rural areas. Further, he also promised to provide all basic facilities for families at the alternative site.

Speaker UT Khader, said that officials in his constituency will be in constant touch with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire and emergency teams, and police to respond to any major natural disaster. He told reporters on Sunday that a helpline would be opened and an emergency response team would be stationed in the constituency for Ullal City Municipal Council (CMC), Someshwar Town Municipal Council (TMC), and Kotekar town panchayat, as the region is close to the sea and river.
