West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted on Thursday that the BJP would not secure a third consecutive term in power, alleging their disregard for the constitutional responsibilities associated with the prime minister’s position.
Speaking at the outset of a 12-km long road show traversing the Jadavpur and South Kolkata Lok Sabha constituencies, Banerjee stated, If the counting procedures are conducted properly, there is a chance that the BJP will not return to power this time.
Highlighting her concerns, she remarked that the position of the PM holds significant constitutional responsibilities. They show no regard for it. Before every counting, he seeks publicity for 48 hours. He may meditate, but why in front of cameras, she questioned.
Banerjee’s remarks alluded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned meditation at the Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari following the culmination of the Lok Sabha polls campaign. Previously, after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections campaign, Modi had meditated in a cave near Kedarnath.
She criticized the BJP-influenced media for continuously airing five-minute footage for political motives.
Furthermore, Banerjee reiterated her party’s stance from the previous day, stating that the Trinamool Congress would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission if Modi’s meditation in Kanyakumari is televised, citing a potential violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
