In an alarming revelation to the court on Thursday, police disclosed that the blood samples of the 17-year-old involved in a fatal Porsche car crash were switched with those of a woman to falsely indicate sobriety during the accident. The sessions court granted an extension of custody for two doctors and a hospital employee from Sassoon General Hospital until June 5, following the police’s request.

While the police aimed to trace the woman whose blood was substituted, a government source revealed that it was none other than the juvenile’s mother. Dr. Ajay Taware, former head of the forensic medicine department at Sassoon hospital, along with medical officer Dr. Shrihari Halnor and employee Atul Ghatkamble, faced the court as their initial custody period ended.

Police emphasized the necessity of further custody, highlighting that Dr. Halnor did not discard the juvenile’s blood samples as previously believed but transferred them to an unidentified individual. A source within the Maharashtra public health department disclosed that the teenager’s mother’s blood samples were utilized to protect him from legal consequences.

The police have asserted that the minor driver was under the influence of alcohol during the incident, resulting in the tragic deaths of two IT professionals in the early hours of May 19 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area.
