He further emphasized the need for immediate medical care for the injured children and urged the government to ensure they receive the best possible treatment. He also demanded an urgent investigation into the cause of the fire and appropriate legal action against those at fault.

Other Congress leaders, including Party President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, also expressed their sorrow. SP criticizes govt over Jhansi fire, calls for Health Min’s resignation

Lucknow

The Samajwadi Party (SP) criticized the Uttar Pradesh government after a fire in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Jhansi’s Laxmibai Medical College led to the deaths of 10 infants, leaving 16 others in serious condition. SP leaders called the incident a result of negligence in managing healthcare and demanded Health Minister Brajesh Pathak’s resignation. The leaders stated that the government had prioritized divisive politics over essential services like healthcare. They claimed that the lack of attention to such basic responsibilities worsened conditions for vulnerable citizens. Following the incident, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and other officials visited the hospital, and the Chief Minister ordered a swift investigation with a report expected within 12 hours.
