AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal claimed on Wednesday that party leaders are being pressured to defame her. In a post on X, Maliwal shared, on Tuesday, a senior party leader called me, revealing that there is immense pressure on everyone to speak against me, leak my personal photos, and whoever supports me will be expelled from the party.
Maliwal alleged that specific duties have been assigned to party members to discredit her, including holding press conferences, tweeting, and contacting volunteers in the U.S. to gather negative information. She also mentioned that some beat reporters, close to the accused, are tasked with creating fake sting operations.
She stated, You may raise an army of thousands; I will face it alone because the truth is with me. Maliwal expressed disappointment that even the Delhi woman minister is tarnishing her character. The accused is very powerful, and even the top leaders fear him. No one dares to stand against him. I don’t expect support from anyone, but I am sad to see my character being maligned.
Maliwal vowed to continue her fight for justice, despite feeling isolated.
On May 18, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar was arrested for allegedly assaulting Maliwal on May 13 at the Chief Minister’s residence. He faces charges including attempted culpable homicide, wrongful restraint, and assault with intent to disrobe, among others, under the Indian Penal Code.
