Madras of 1970s recreated in Chennai for Vishal’s film with Adhik Ravichandran

Must read

Pre-production work for Vishal’s Mark Antony, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, is on in full swing. The team is erecting a massive set — resembling Madras of 1970s — in a studio in Chennai. This set, we hear, will play an integral part in the film and shoot of quite a few important sequences are being planned here.

A source in the know reveals, “It’s an action film set in the 1970s Madras. The team wanted to recreate Madras of that period — wide roads, lots of trees, buildings reminiscent of the colonial era. After a lot of research, they are working on a set that will have the essence of old Mount Road, and also three landmark buildings of that period. Art director Umesh and his team have been working for the past one month on this set.”

The shoot of the film is likely to begin in the first week of May. “The team has planned to can three big fight sequences and one song there,” says the source.

Mark Antony is being billed as a pan-India film, which will be made in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. SJ Suryah is also on board the film, for which GV Prakash will be composing the music. The team is finalising the rest of the cast and crew, and an announcement is expected by the end of this month.
