Supriya Shrinate, the national spokesperson of Congress party, said the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot escape by maintaining silence on the sex scandal involving BJP-JD(S) alliance candidate Prajwal Revanna of the Hassan. She alleged that BJP’s silence on the scandal is a distraction tactic.
Shrinate criticized the lack of strong condemnation from BJP leaders at the national level, regarding the alleged actions of Prajwal. She accused him of misusing his power and family influence to destroy the lives of thousands of women, including party workers, government officials, maids and even a Zilla Panchayat member. She alleged that despite being aware of Prajwal’s misdeeds, Prime Minister Modi praised him and sought votes for him during a rally on April 14.
Shrinate raised questions about the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Ministers Amit Shah and Smriti Irani on the scandal. She also questioned the inaction of the National Commission for Women, which she believed should have taken suo motu action in the matter. According to Shrinate, the BJP leadership, including Modi, Amit Shah, and State President BY Vijayendra, were well-informed about Prajwal’s alleged crimes, as local BJP workers had provided them with evidence. She said local leaders had opposed the candidature of Prajwal.
