At the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, renowned spiritual leader and environmental advocate Sadhguru brought global attention to the indispensable role of microbial biodiversity in sustaining life on Earth. Addressing policymakers, climate leaders, and environmental experts, he emphasized that protecting microbial ecosystems is fundamental to ensuring ecological balance, soil health, and food security.
“Microbial biodiversity forms the foundation of life. Without healthy microbes, soil loses its vitality, plants struggle to grow, and food security becomes an unachievable goal,” Sadhguru stated during his address.
He underscored the urgency of transitioning from a hydrocarbon-centric mindset to a soil-centric approach, calling it a groundbreaking shift. “This shift from hydrocarbons or oil to soil is very significant and pathbreaking. It is important for everyone to understand its impact on the planet’s future,” he said.
Sadhguru’s global influence and his ability to connect with diverse audiences have made his environmental campaigns, including “Save Soil,” a driving force for action in addressing climate challenges through holistic and sustainable measures.
Through his participation at COP29, Sadhguru reiterated the necessity of integrating soil and microbial health into international climate discussions, calling for collaborative global action to restore and protect the planet’s vital ecosystems.
