A case has been filed against K Annamalai, the BJP’s Tamil Nadu State President and Coimbatore Lok Sabha candidate, for allegedly campaigning outside the permitted hours in the Avarampalayam area. The complaint also includes Coimbatore District BJP Secretary Ramesh.

According to reports, Annamalai was in the area after 10 pm, violating the time limit set by the election code of conduct for parliamentary elections, as campaigning is not allowed beyond this time.

Earlier, on April 12, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Nara Lokesh joined K Annamalai in a joint roadshow to show support for him ahead of the general elections. TDP, previously part of the BJP-led NDA alliance, recently rejoined the alliance under the leadership of Lokesh’s father, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Confirming the TDP’s reentry into the NDA, BJP National President JP Nadda announced that the two parties would contest together in both the Lok Sabha elections and the Andhra Pradesh assembly polls, scheduled for May 13.

Lokesh praised Annamalai as a dynamic and committed young leader, noting his recent padayatra (foot march), which demonstrated a deep understanding of the people’s issues in the state. Voting for the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu is set to take place in the first phase of the general elections on April 19.
