The BJP Mahanagar and Rural Scheduled Tribes Morcha will organise the ‘Scheduled Tribes Munnade’ conference on Saturday at Gokul Garden. Speaking to media persons, BJP functionary Arun Kumar Hudali said that former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, former Minister B Sriramulu, MLAs Aravind Bellad, Mahesh Tenginakai, MR Patil, MLC Pradeep Shettar and others will attend.
ST Morcha State President Bangaru Hanumanta will lead the conference. About 10,000 workers are expected to participate, he said. He said that the Union government has released Rs. 1,17,943 crore for the development of the ST community in 2023-24. 23.4 lakh people have been given land rights under the Forest Rights Act. The Valmiki Development Corporation was established when the BJP government was in power in the state. The government has declared a holiday on Valmiki Jayanti. The percentage of reservation for the ST community was increased from 3 percent to 7 percent, he added.
