Residents Endure Health Hazards As Garbage Burning Plagues Kodigehalli Area

Must read

Residents residing in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar and surrounding neighborhoods near Kodigehalli are grappling with severe challenges stemming from the rampant burning of garbage and plastic littered across vacant land along the railway parallel road. They voice their frustration over the lack of action from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) solid waste management department, questioning its efficacy in addressing the issue.

Complaints abound regarding the health hazards posed by the smoke emitted from burning plastic and garbage, with residents highlighting the detrimental impact on both their well-being and the environment. Despite repeated appeals to the BBMP authorities to intervene and mitigate the problem, no tangible measures have been implemented thus far.

Residents lament the negligence displayed by the BBMP in maintaining cleanliness along the railway parallel road, attributing the situation to either the actions of miscreants or informal waste collectors. Concerns are raised over the destruction of saplings and trees due to the burning of garbage, underscoring the urgent need for remedial action.

Demanding immediate intervention from the BBMP Solid Waste Management Department, residents emphasize the pressing need for garbage and plastic removal from the vacant land. Expressing dissatisfaction with the BBMP’s response, residents stress the imperative of ensuring pedestrian safety and preserving environmental quality along the railway parallel road.

In response, a BBMP Junior Health Inspector assures residents of prompt action upon receipt of photographic evidence documenting the burning of garbage and plastic. While acknowledging ongoing efforts by pourakarmikas to maintain cleanliness, the inspector pledges to address the issue swiftly following verification of the reported incidents.
