Hyderabad
A temple in Shamshabad, near Hyderabad, was vandalized on Tuesday, according to police. The incident came to light when the temple priest arrived in the morning to perform rituals and found idols damaged. Locals and the priest promptly alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and started their investigation. Authorities suspect the temple was vandalized late Monday night.
Local BJP leaders also visited the site, demanding strict action against those responsible. Police have detained a suspect for questioning.
This incident follows another case of vandalism nearly three weeks ago at the Sri Muthyalamma Temple in Secunderabad, where a man damaged an idol. The accused, a Mumbai resident attending a workshop in Hyderabad, was injured after locals detained him and was later hospitalized. His arrest led to protests by VHP, Bajrang Dal, and other groups demanding justice.
