Jabalpur
In Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, the discovery of flies on the clothing of a 19-year-old suspect has helped police crack a murder case, officials reported on Tuesday. The suspect, Dharam Thakur, has been arrested for allegedly killing his uncle, 26-year-old Manoj Thakur, during a money dispute, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sonali Dubey.
Manoj left home for work on the morning of October 30 but did not return that night. His body was discovered the next day in an agricultural field in Deori Tapria village. Authorities noted that Dharam was the last person seen with Manoj at a local market in Chargawan.
Witnesses reported seeing Dharam at the scene, where he appeared to have reddened eyes and visible marks on his chest. While questioning him, police officer Abhishek Pyasi noticed flies clinging to Dharam’s clothing, which raised suspicions about possible blood stains, even though the dark fabric concealed them. Forensic analysis later confirmed the presence of blood.
Initially claiming innocence, Dharam eventually confessed to the crime, admitting he struck his uncle with a nail-studded object during an argument over shared expenses for liquor and chicken they had purchased together. Police also recovered the murder weapon following his confession.
