Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner MP Mullai Muhilan directed all educational institutions, with hostels, to submit an affidavit stating that they will provide qualitative services in their hostels within three days. He warned that strict action would be taken against the institutions if any incidents of food poisoning or inmates falling ill were reported in the hostels.
A circular, directing to provide quality and hygienic services, has been sent out to medical, nursing, paramedical, allied health sciences, engineering, and PU college hostels. In the circular, the Deputy Commissioner directed the hostel management and college heads to constitute a committee comprising hostel inmates. The committee must meet each month, and proceedings should be sent to the district health and family welfare department without fail. All hostels must follow guidelines issued by the health department. The same should be informed to all committees in every hostel, and an affidavit should be submitted to the department within three days, he said.
