Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, emphasized the significant humanitarian contributions of the Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch during his address at the Annual General Meeting held at Raj Bhavan. Highlighting the global support for humanitarian service across various religions, Governor Gehlot commended the relentless efforts of the Red Cross Society in Karnataka towards public welfare. He spoke about the organization’s history, tracing back to its establishment in 1921, and its continuous commitment to selfless service during calamities. “The Red Cross Society’s fundamental mission is to serve people without discrimination based on caste, creed, class, sect, or regional sentiments,” stated Governor Gehlot. He praised the commendable work of the Karnataka State Branch, particularly in initiatives such as Youth Red Cross, Voluntary Blood Donation Camps, Primary Education, and various training programs. During the Annual General Meeting, Governor Gehlot acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Karnataka Red Cross Society during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the collaboration of the Public Relations Department, over 25 thousand volunteers were mobilized, trained, and deployed across the state for relief activities. The Society procured essential equipment, including Pulse-Oximeter, PPE-Kit, Ventilator Oxygen-Concentrator, and distributed them to government hospitals, contributing significantly to the pandemic response. Governor Gehlot expressed gratitude to all volunteers for their dedicated service during the pandemic. He also lauded the Karnataka Red Cross Society for its corporate social responsibility initiatives, including a livelihood campaign benefiting hundreds of families. In line with the challenges posed by the pandemic, the Karnataka Red Cross Society has undertaken various projects aimed at educating and training communities on life-saving skills. The organization has initiated awareness programs to reach rural populations, further enhancing its commendable work. Recognizing the Karnataka Red Cross Society’s commitment to humanitarian service, Governor Gehlot congratulated all members, volunteers, and officers for their determination and passion in supporting vulnerable communities during disasters, floods, healthcare emergencies, and crises.
