M. Vijayalakshmi, the Managing Director of Vijaya Hospital, highlighted the pressing impact of lifestyle changes and mounting stress on health, leading to escalating cases of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart diseases. Speaking at a health check-up camp held under the Yeshavantpur Vidhan Sabha constituency, Vijayalakshmi emphasized the surge in diabetic cases in Bangalore and attributed it to hectic lifestyles, irregular routines, and insufficient physical activity. Warning against the potential complications of unchecked conditions, such as heart and kidney issues, Vijayalakshmi urged individuals above 40 to undergo periodic health screenings. Stressing the significance of early detection, he asserted that timely intervention upon symptom manifestation could ensure a complete cure for the disease. In a bid to promote proactive healthcare, the hospital organized a free check-up camp, extending an invitation to the local populace to take advantage of the medical facilities. The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with approximately 300 individuals undergoing diabetes and ophthalmology screenings, while over 800 people received cardiac evaluations, including free electrocardiograms (ECG). Moreover, the community spirit was evident as 30 individuals generously donated blood during the camp. The initiative served as a proactive step towards addressing health concerns prevalent in the community, advocating for regular screenings and prompt treatment for a healthier future.
