The Cantonment Railway Station, a vital hub in Bengaluru, is in the midst of an impressive makeover set to be completed by 2025. The extensive revamp aims to elevate passenger amenities to a world-class standard, with progress already well underway. This pivotal railway station, serving both long-distance and suburban trains, comes with a hefty price tag of Rs 480 crore. The renovation project has been initiated and is making swift strides in its development. The journey towards rejuvenating the Cantonment Railway Station commenced on June 20, 2022, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the ambitious project. Four months into this endeavor, it has reached an impressive 10% completion rate. By October 2025, travelers can expect a transformed station replete with world-class amenities. Highlights include a spacious waiting room, multiple ticket counters, a solar-powered roof, a four-foot overpass, and a state-of-the-art parking complex capable of accommodating 2,000 vehicles, encompassing both bikes and cars. MP PC Mohan recently oversaw the progress of this monumental undertaking as part of the Cantonment Railway Station Renovation Project. After being briefed on the work’s progress, he emphasized the importance of maintaining top-notch quality standards. Mohan further commented, This development, funded at a cost of Rs. 480 crores, is geared towards optimizing suburban train operations in the future. Plans include the construction of four separate platforms for suburban trains. Additionally, we’re striving to provide BMTC feeder bus services in front of the railway station for the convenience of passengers. Conveniently located a mere 232 meters away, Bambu Bazar Metro Station can be easily accessed from the railway station. To facilitate seamless movement between BMTC, suburban, metro stations, and the railway station, plans for constructing walkways (skywalks) have been earmarked. This impressive transformation promises to redefine the travel experience for Bengaluru’s railway commuters, offering a glimpse of the city’s promising future in railway transportation.
