The police have accelerated their investigation into the Pratima murder case, seizing the knife used by the accused, Kiran. Kiran had used the knife to cut Pratima’s throat in Kuvempu city. After the act, he fled on a bike, and during interrogation, he revealed that he had thrown the knife into a bush near the city. Subsequently, the police took the accused to the spot and retrieved the knife. Kiran was also taken to Pratima’s house, where the crime occurred, for a reenactment. During this process, he provided a detailed account of the incident. The accused had entered Pratima’s house and demanded that she help him find work. When she refused, he allegedly strangled her and then used a knife from the kitchen to cut her throat before fleeing the scene. Kiran stated that he had lost his job on Pratima’s recommendation, leading to family disputes and financial difficulties. He has repeatedly cited these reasons during the investigation as his motivation for the crime.
