Amid allegations about increasing high-handedness of the District Minister Satish Jarkiholi and  MLA Abhay Patil in the administration of City Corporation, Ex-Corporators Association  submitted a memorandum to the Regional Commissioner, condemning registering of an FIR against the Mayor, first citizen of the city.

Former mayors including former MLA Ramesh Kudachi, advocate Nagesh Sateri, Sanjay Sunthakar, Malojirao Ashtekar, Yallappa Kurubar and many former Deputy Mayors and Corporators urged the Regional Commissioner SB Shettennavar to protect the image of the Mayoral post from maligning due to petty politics.
A week ago, the Council Secretary of the BCC registered a complaint against the Mayor Shobha Somanache in Khade Bazar Police station, in connection to missing council proceedings. The association, in its memorandum said the missing of proceedings is a part of investigation, but, lodging the complaint against Mayor is unrespectful. It has happened for the first time in the history of city corporations in Karnataka, they stated in the memorandum.
The Ex-Corporators’ Association alleged that coordination between officials and corporators is missing in the Corporation.    Members of the association said the ruling party is targeting the Corporation Commissioner for sending the proceedings papers about property taxation to the government with the wrong date.   According to advocate Nagesh Sateri, it was a small issue which could have been rectified just by writing another letter to the government. However, the mayor has signed on the same proceeding paper, which has gone missing. Now, citing the missing proceedings papers, the Council Secretary has lodged a police complaint against the Mayor, which is completely wrong, he stated.
Speaking after receiving the memorandum, the Regional Commissioner assured the association members of looking into the issue and doing whatever comes under his purview.
