Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written a letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav requesting him to extend the Bengaluru-Hubli-Dharwad Vande Bharat train service up to Belagavi. I am writing to you on behalf of lakhs of Kannadigas in Kittur Karnataka Belagavi region.   On June 17, 2023, the central government started the second Vande Bharat Express train service in the state from Bengaluru-Hubli-Dharwad. This has greatly benefited the people of the area, he said in the letter.

Belagavi is an important hub for entrepreneurs, students and tourism. Belagavi is home to many small and medium industries, sugar factories, automobile industries and is an economically important district. Therefore, I request you to extend the Bengaluru-Hubli-Dharwad Vande Bharat train service up to Belagavi city. It will provide connectivity between Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.

My colleague MLC Prakash Hukkeri has already written to you in this regard. You are requested to take note of this and issue necessary instructions to the concerned authorities, he said in the letter.
