A meeting was called by the Delhi government as a result of Friday’s intense rainfall and flooding in the nation’s capital. The Delhi Secretariat hosted the gathering.

All of the government’s top officials attended the emergency meeting, according to Delhi Minister Atishi, during which a number of significant decisions were made.

…because of the severe rain, we had an emergency meeting to discuss the waterlogging problem. Four ministers from the Delhi government presided over it. All of the prominent government officials from Delhi attended. We came to a number of significant decisions for the next days, Atishi stated at a press conference.

According to Atishi, the Delhi government has pinpointed 200 hotspots that are vulnerable to flooding. According to her, overabundance of rainfall beyond the capacity of drains is the cause of waterlogging.

Up until the most downpour, we had located about 200 hotspots. Of them, PWD has CCTV monitoring around 40 sites. You must realize that it will take some time for the water level to drop in Delhi if 228 mm of rain falls there. Delhi is currently experiencing more rainfall than the drains can handle. That explains why there is waterlogging in a number of areas, the woman stated.

The committee resolved to address water logging in the nation’s capital, according to Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.

It has been instructed for the Traffic Police and local authorities to identify and list the places that are susceptible to flooding.
