Mangaluru
Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging the government to appoint health inspectors on an outsource basis.
The Mayor said that while the door-to-door waste collection and transportation in the city is being taken up through Antony Waste Handling Cell (AWHC) Limited, as per the government’s direction and rules, the process will have to be carried out by the Mangaluru City Corporation(MCC) on its own.
Accordingly, the City Corporation has been given the responsibility of procuring required vehicles, and making other necessary arrangements. However, the city corporation lacks a sufficient number of health inspectors to monitor the process of waste management. Hence, government approval is sought to appoint health inspectors on an outsource basis, he said.
Referring to the issues related to the e-khata of properties, the mayor brought to the notice of the chief minister, that an error in the government’s server has been causing inconvenience.
The process of transfer and change in e-khata have been affected due to the server error, and people have been complaining about the same. People are forced to visit the city corporation several times as there are shortcomings in the software pertaining to e-khata, mutation. The issue has already been brought to the notice of the department of urban development and the directorate of municipal administration. However, problems have not been rectified yet, the Mayor said.
The Mayor also urged the Chief Minister to sanction Rs 25 crore for the restoration of roads, drainage and walls that were damaged due to rain recently.
