South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol met Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah during the APEC summit in Lima, Peru, to discuss expanding bilateral ties in defense, infrastructure, and digital technologies.

Yoon emphasized existing economic partnerships, including crude oil trade and construction projects, and expressed hopes for cooperation in areas like defense industries and smart cities. Sultan Bolkiah acknowledged South Korean companies’ contributions to Brunei’s infrastructure and pledged to strengthen collaboration in climate change and cybersecurity, according to Yoon’s office.
