Assam Police successfully thwarted an interstate drug peddling attempt and confiscated narcotic substances worth Rs 5 crore in Karbi Anglong district. A suspect has been arrested on charges of drug peddling, and the seized drugs were reportedly coming from Manipur. According to a senior police officer, the security personnel stopped a car near the Lahorijan outpost area of the district on Saturday night based on a tip. After a thorough search, a significant quantity of drugs was recovered, leading to the arrest of a person from Manipur involved in the peddling. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the police operation and reported the discovery of 50 soapboxes containing 637.28 grams of heroin. He noted that the operation was part of the ongoing #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign. As per the guidelines of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the total value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs 5 crore.
