Ian Healy Expresses Concerns Over India’s Energy Levels In ODI World Cup

Former Australian wicket-keeper Ian Healy has raised concerns about India’s energy levels in the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup, despite their four consecutive wins. Healy wonders if India is expending too much energy early in the competition and advises them to save some for later stages. In their recent match at the MCA Stadium in Pune, India defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets, with Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten century. India had previously triumphed over Australia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. However, Healy is uncertain if their high intensity and energy in the early days of the tournament are sustainable. Healy commented on SEN Radio, saying, They’re not rolling easily. I’ve got a new fear for India. (Kohli’s) was a good knock, Rohit (Sharma) and Shubman Gill were good at the top too. But if you see the energy that’s going into it (their wins), my fear is that they’re going to have an emotional letdown. They’re putting a whole lot of (energy into it), they might just be overdoing it. Healy expressed concern about the intensity, fielding gestures, and over-enthusiasm displayed by the team, particularly in their fielding efforts. He advised India to conserve some of their energy for the later stages of the tournament. I just worry for that (overdoing it), but gee they’ve got a great team, Healy added. Healy’s advice to India is to maintain a balance in their energy levels, keeping some in reserve for the latter stages of the competition. He emphasized that conserving energy is crucial to succeed in the later matches when the competition gets tougher.
