City Police Commissioner Held Press Conference Over Protesters Demanding Support For Palestine

Bangalore City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda has registered a case against individuals who participated in a protest and chanted slogans in favor of Palestine, urging India to condemn the Israeli attacks on the region. Approximately 25 people have been detained and charged. The Commissioner confirmed that the protest held on MG Road the previous day had not received official permission, and participants had joined via WhatsApp messages. A case has been filed at Cubbon Park Police Station, citing the assembly of individuals in a public place without prior permission and causing disruptions to traffic. uring the protest, more than a hundred people raised pro-Palestine slogans and called for India to condemn Israel’s actions against Palestine. Members of Bahutva Karnataka and Akhil Bharat Vidyarthi Sangathan suddenly gathered, advocating for the independence of Palestine. They formed a human chain from Kaveri Emporium Circle to Brigade Road and MG Road, shouting slogans in support of Palestine. An altercation between the protestors and the police occurred during the demonstration. Subsequently, T. Narasimha Murthy, Vinay Srinivas, and over 25 others were arrested. Commissioner Dayananda also warned that cases would be filed against individuals found smoking in public places. Over a thousand cases have been registered recently, primarily against those violating smoking regulations in no-smoking zones. It is prohibited to smoke cigarettes near pubs, restaurants, shops, and muggattu. Establishments with more than thirty patrons should have designated smoking areas. Additionally, advertising cigarettes and gutka near schools and colleges will incur fines of 200 rupees for smoking in no-smoking zones and 1,000 rupees for advertising. The Commissioner highlighted that the crackdown on smoking violations has been active in recent weeks, including cases involving minors.
