As the Israel-Hamas conflict escalates, demonstrators took to MG Road in Bangalore, demanding that India express its condemnation of Israel’s military actions in Palestine. Activists from Bahutva Karnataka and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sangathan orchestrated a spontaneous demonstration. Protesters formed a human chain stretching from Kaveri Emporium Circle on Brigade Road to M.G. Road’s Metro Station footpath, passionately chanting pro-Palestine slogans. Some donned black bands across their mouths, and Palestinian flags adorned their bikes. They displayed placards with messages like India Stands with Palestine and Let’s Raise Our Voice for Palestine and Its Victims. The demonstrators urged India to reconsider its support for Israel and called on the international community to show solidarity with Palestine. They decried the suffering of innocent Palestinians in the ongoing conflict. While acknowledging the complexity of the situation, the protesters emphasized that their cause was rooted in a historic struggle for justice that long predates the conflict with Israel. With the media’s portrayal often leaning towards Israel, these activists urged the world to empathize with the Palestinian people, emphasizing that the actions of groups like Hamas should not overshadow the broader Palestinian experience. This movement aims to raise awareness about the protracted suffering endured by Palestinians, particularly children, during the current crisis. Ruqayyah Aymen, a student from Dubai, underscored the importance of standing against oppression and injustice, reiterating that the people of Palestine continue to face immense challenges during this conflict.
