In the wake of significant cash recoveries during recent IT department raids in the city, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted a raid at the residence and office of Bangalore-based businessman Usha Ramnani. The ED officials carried out the raid on Tuesday, targeting the residence located in Kasavanahalli barangay. Usha Ramnani is associated with two companies, where she holds the positions of managing director and director. The raid was conducted simultaneously at both locations with a team of officials arriving in eight vehicles. Further details regarding the ongoing investigation are yet to be released. The IT department has seized a substantial amount, totaling more than 80 crores of rupees, from contractors and real estate developers in Bengaluru over the past week. Among these seizures, cash amounting to over 40 crores was found in a contractor’s flat, who had previously alleged a 40 percent commission against the previous BJP government.  The BJP and JDS have directly accused the Congress government of amassing funds in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
