In an inspiring move, teachers at Gorigudda’s UBMC Higher Secondary School, Kittle Memorial High School, and Kittel PU College, which are under the CSI Church’s administration, are contributing Rs 1.2 lakh each annually from their salaries towards school development and covering expenses. These schools, facing a decline in Kannada medium student enrollment, are supported by the dedicated efforts of the teachers. Over 300 students attend these institutions. There are permanent teachers in the primary school, high school, and college. To attract more students, teachers like Srikrishna N and Balakrishna have ventured to distant places, such as Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga, to enroll children from coffee estates and farms, providing them accommodation at Balikashrama and ensuring their education at these schools. Since these schools are unaided, the teachers contribute a portion of their salaries to pay guest faculty members and enhance the quality of education. Currently, the headmistress of the high school, Vajrakanthi, along with teachers like Srikrishna N, Balakrishna, and Raghunath Bhat, contributes Rs 10,000 each per month to the school’s development fund. Other teachers, college professors, and staff members are also making contributions according to their capacity to support the school’s development.
