Members of the Bajrang Dal staged a protest in Ahmedabad on Saturday against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his alleged anti-Hindu remarks made in Parliament. The demonstration involved chanting slogans criticizing Gandhi’s comments about the Hindu community. As tensions escalated, Gujarat Police intervened and detained several protesters who attempted to burn an effigy of Rahul Gandhi while chanting Jai Shri Ram.
Neeraj Badgujar, Joint Commissioner of Police, confirmed the detainments and noted the deployment of additional police forces to maintain peace in the area. The situation is under control now. Bajrang Dal protesters were detained to prevent any further unrest, he stated.
Last week, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in the Lok Sabha, where he accused the BJP and RSS of promoting violence and undermining the concept of India, sparked controversy. His reference to the Hindu symbol ‘Abhayamudra’ in connection with the Congress party further fueled tensions. BJP members objected strongly, accusing Gandhi of insulting Hindu sentiments and misleading the House.
PM Modi criticized Gandhi’s comments, describing them as a serious allegation against the entire Hindu community. In response, Rahul Gandhi clarified that his criticism was directed at specific political entities, not the broader Hindu society.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi visited Ahmedabad on Saturday to meet party members and console families affected by the recent Rajkot Gaming Zone tragedy, which claimed 28 lives in a fire on June 25th.
