Former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Keshava Rao, who recently joined the Congress, has been appointed as Advisor to the Telangana Government for Public Affairs, with the status equivalent to that of a Cabinet Minister. The appointment was formalized through an order signed by Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumar.
Keshava Rao’s return to the Congress was marked by his resignation from the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, shortly after rejoining in the presence of party leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy.
‘Welcoming back, We are pleased to have senior leader Shri K. Keshav Rao ji join the Congress party. His extensive experience in public service will undoubtedly strengthen our party in Telangana,’ remarked Kharge in a statement on social media following the announcement.
Previously serving as the chief of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, Keshava Rao had joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), later the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), in 2013, marking his return to Congress after more than a decade.
The appointment of Keshava Rao as Advisor underscores the Congress party’s efforts to bolster its presence in Telangana, leveraging his seasoned leadership and extensive administrative background to enhance public affairs management in the state.
