Congress leader R Padmaraj has called for religious leaders, particularly Swamijis, to abstain from involving themselves in political matters. In a press conference on Saturday, Padmaraj emphasized the need for everyone to condemn the interference of religious Swamijis in political affairs.
Padmaraj expressed concerns about recent comments made by Pejawar Swamiji Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statements in parliament. He noted that Swamiji criticized Rahul Gandhi for his remarks related to Hinduism and urged Swamiji to focus on addressing social injustices within the Hindu community instead.
Padmaraj also highlighted Swamiji’s remarks questioning the timing of the Ram Mandir inauguration before the elections, considering the incomplete construction status. He questioned whether this was a political maneuver.
Furthermore, Padmaraj criticized the BJP’s response to various issues raised by Rahul Gandhi, including irregularities in NEET. He accused the BJP, including its student wing, of not addressing these concerns adequately, indicating a lack of concern for the underprivileged.
Padmaraj also challenged the BJP’s assertion of being the sole representative of the Hindu community, citing his own election results where he garnered over 300,000 votes from Hindu voters. He remarked on BJP’s portrayal of having a monopoly on Hindu religion.
