The district administration in Raichur organized a program to celebrate World Senior Citizens Day at Kannada Bhavan in the city. Additional District Collector Dr. KR Durugesha encouraged senior citizens to take advantage of various government facilities and lead a happy retired life. He stressed the importance of the younger generation taking good care of their elders, calling it everyone’s responsibility. Dr. Durugesha also mentioned that senior voters who reach the age of 100 receive a congratulatory letter from the government and are treated in a special way. The government has initiated a helpline for the elderly to address their problems and provide assistance through the district administration. The program included the distribution of awards to senior citizens who have made significant contributions in various fields. The event was organized in collaboration with the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Women and Child Development Department, District Handicapped and Senior Citizens Empowerment Department, Kannada and Culture Department, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, as well as associations and voluntary organizations dedicated to senior citizens’ welfare.
