The poll debacle in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka coupled with the anti-incumbency over the maladministration of the BJP government have woken up the Centre and made it reduce the price of domestic LPG cylinders, said K Harish Kumar, MLC and Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee President.
He said that by reducing the price of LPG, the central government has proved that it has control over the prices of petroleum. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas have been claiming that the Centre has no control over pricing of petroleum products. However, contrary to their statements, they have now reduced the price of LPG, realising public outcry against corruption, price rise and the poll debacles. Further, they also have asked agencies to put posters with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s picture to give publicity for the price reduction, he said.
The BJP is also upset over the unity of opposition through the INDIA block that comprises 28 political parties. The BJP remembers people only when the elections are nearing, he said referring to the upcoming Lok Sabha election as well as the polls to five states. The meetings of the INDIA held in Bihar, Bengaluru and Maharashtra were a huge success with all allied political parties in the opposition not showing any kind of discord. It is an indication that the majority of people in India want to vote out the BJP, Kumar said.
