Dakshina Kannada district has prepared a Rs 4.8 crore plan for eight schools selected under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme.
Sumangala S Nayak, Deputy Project Coordinator, Samagra Shikshana Karnataka (SSK) said that each primary school is allocated an annual fund of Rs 53.7 lakh and for high schools, it is around Rs 1.5 crore.
The selected government schools under the PM SHRI scheme are Government High School, Sooribail; Karnataka Public School, Mulur, Government Higher Primary Schools in Belthangady, City South, Sullia, Moodbidri, and Puttur (two schools). Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mudipu, and Kendriya Vidyalaya-2 too have been selected under the scheme in the District.
Based on the requirements of each school, a proposal for Rs 4.8 crore has been prepared.
Out of 217 shortlisted schools, only eight were selected for the current academic year for the scheme. The window is currently open for the selection of schools under the PM SHRI scheme for the next academic year, said Nayak.
