State Minister for Textiles, Sugarcane Development and Sugar and Agricultural Produce Marketing Shivanand S. Sudhakar has directed the Government to hand over 1,000 acres of land to the Textiles Department within a month for the mega textile park proposed to be set up near Firozabad on Jevargi Road in the district under the Central government’s PM Mitra scheme and include its name in the RTC. Patil instructed the officials.
He held a meeting with officials in the city and said that about Rs 10,000 crore has been sanctioned. For this investment plan to be realised, the work of demarcating the boundary of the land has to be completed at the earliest. He also directed the officials to ensure that the land is not encroached upon by fencing or constructing a retaining wall.
Farmers’ organisations in the district have complained to them that some sugar factories have taken sugarcane at FRP rate and are yet to pay the dues to the farmers.
At the same time, the Minister sought information from the officials about the rain-crop, sowing rate, water storage in the reservoir and drinking water problem in the district.
Deptuty Commissioner B Fauzia Tarannum said discussions have already been held with the officials of the neighbouring state. It has also been brought to the notice of District In-charge Minister Priyank Kharge, she said. Commissioner of Textile Development and Director of Handlooms and Textiles Department THM Kumar briefed the minister in detail about the proposed park with a plan map.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhanwar Singh Meena, Assistant Commissioner Mamta Kumari, District Industries Centre Joint Director M Satish Kumar, DDLR Praveen, Tahsildar Nagamma Kattimani and other senior officials of the textile department were present.
