Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Secretary LK Atheeq instructed officials to designate a specific day in a week to address pending cases in the Courts of the Tahsildar,Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner. Hearings must not be delayed and should contribute to an administration that is people-friendly, he added.
Presiding over a review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he said there were many cases pending in the Assistant Commissioner’s court, adding such a huge pendency can be reduced in this era of computerisation. Atheeq directed the Assistant Commissioner to dispose the cases in consultation with the Mangalore Bar Association.
Deputy Commissioner MP Mullai Muhilan said the huge pendency was due to the absence of hearings for the past eight months. He said all district offices must function as paperless offices. Under social security schemes, camps should be organised in all gram panchayats, where eligible beneficiaries should be identified, and they should be registered for various schemes and pension.
Atheeq said Health Department should give priority to Malaria, Dengue control in the district. Precautionary steps must be implemented and emphasis should be on cleanliness in both urban local bodies and gram panchayats, he said, adding cases were more prevalent in Port, Kudroli, and Shakti Nagar areas of the City Corporation. It was noted that the number of cases is lower this time compared to last year.
The Wenlock District Hospital receives around 800 to 900 outpatient visits daily and conducts over 600 surgeries each month. He said patients should not face inconvenience and cleanliness must be maintained.
During the Chief Minister’s recent visit, the issue of a decline in the education index was raised. The DDPI was told to implement more effective measures to ensure the delivery of quality education.
