Vijayapura
The ongoing construction of the dual carriageway on State Highway 41 in the town has faced significant delays due to the failure to relocate two electric poles and a flagpole of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, disrupting both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
The road project, which includes a central median and drainage system along Indi Road, has seen progress with the removal of various obstacles such as trees, shops, and compound walls. However, the relocation of two electric poles near the HESCOM office and the flagpole in the middle of the road remains unresolved.
Before construction began, the former Municipal Commissioner assured that the 33 kV electric poles would be relocated after the required charges were paid, and any unauthorized structures would be cleared. While MLA Rajugouda Patil intervened regarding the flagpole issue, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike leaders are refusing to move it.
As a result, contractors have continued their work around the flagpole area. Karnataka Rakshana Vedike District President Shail Mulaji accused the contractor, CB Aski, of failing to construct the roundabout. However, the contractor and Engineer Tumbagi clarified they only agreed to provide materials, not to build the roundabout or relocate the flagpole.
