Is Yatnal In Touch With At Least One Congress MLA, Minister Shivanand Patil Questions

Minister Shivanand Patil has questioned whether at least one of the six Congress MLAs from Vijayapura district is in touch with Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, irrespective of the 25 Congress MLAs. Speaking to media persons, he said, Yatnal has said that 6 Congress MLAs are in touch with him. Reacting to Yatnal’s statement that the Congress government will fall, he said, let Basanagouda Patil Yatnal say whatever he wants, it has nothing to do with us.

On the Tamil Nadu government approaching the Supreme Court on the Cauvery water issue, he said, the Tamil Nadu government approaches the Court every year. How can water be released if there is no proper rainfall in the state. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already written to the Prime Minister to declare drought in the state. The Central Government is expected to respond to the Chief Minister’s request, he said.

Seed sowing has done well in the state. It is expected to rain in another week or two. If the situation worsens due to lack of rain, we will bring it to the notice of the CM and discuss declaring drought in the state, he said.

Talking about the closure of Kannada schools in the district, he said,  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has promised to give money to Kannada schools at least next year, if not this year. The dependence on Government schools is decreasing as people are becoming economically empowered. This is also the reason why Kannada schools are closing down, he said.

An investigation has been initiated into the irregularities in four medical colleges, including Haveri medical college. We are preparing for classes to start as soon as possible in the building. The aim is to ensure that the first and second year students study in the same building. This will be done as soon as possible, Minister Shivanand Patil said.
