Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated in the Legislative Assembly that South Indian states must stand united to help India become an economic powerhouse. Speaking after a deputy speaker’s election, he stressed that political leaders should put aside differences and work together as a team for the welfare and future progress of Karnataka.
The Chief Minister called for cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition to solve major challenges. He praised Bengaluru’s massive talent pool, noting its millions of IT professionals, doctors, and engineers. He also emphasized the urgent need to address the city’s growing water demands by reviving local lakes and improving groundwater levels.
Discussing long-term development, Mr. Shivakumar promised to carry forward the visionary projects of past leaders like H.D. Kumaraswamy, B.S. Yediyurappa, and Basavaraj Bommai. He welcomed discussions on the proposed Bidadi Township and stressed that infrastructure projects like NICE Road have saved Bengaluru from severe traffic gridlock. He noted that leaders must plan for the state’s growth over the next 25 years rather than focusing on petty politics.
Furthermore, the government is introducing the new “Praja Seve” department to bring public administration directly to people’s doorsteps. Mr. Shivakumar urged lawmakers to offer constructive ideas, protect farmers, and boost tourism along the coast. He closed by reminding everyone that political criticisms eventually fade away, but meaningful public service and completed infrastructure works endure forever.
